Wearing a removable denture does not mean giving up good food or smiling: it means having a custom medical device that must be designed, maintained and — when needed — updated.
The daily golden rules
- Clean after meals with a dedicated brush and specific cleanser (no abrasive toothpaste).
- Overnight rest out of the mouth, in water or solution: the mucosa must breathe.
- Mouth hygiene: gums, palate and tongue brushed gently every day.
- Periodic check-ups: gums change over time; relines and adjustments keep stability and comfort.
If the denture rocks
It is not normal and should not be accepted: often a reline or small adjustments are enough. For more stability, implant-retained overdentures (2-4 implants that clip the denture) are an excellent middle ground between traditional dentures and full fixed rehabilitation.
Our practice's experience
Dr. Massimo Ferrara has designed fixed and removable prosthetics for over 30 years: every denture starts from digital impressions, shared aesthetic try-ins and a clear maintenance plan.
