A brighter smile is one of the most frequent requests at our practice. Professional whitening is a safe, effective treatment — provided it is done properly, after a clinical assessment.
Before whitening: the check-up
Not all discolouration is the same. Surface stains from coffee or smoking often resolve with a GBT hygiene session; internal discolouration (from trauma or old treatments) needs specific approaches; fillings and veneers do not whiten and must be considered in the plan. That is why whitening always starts with a visit.
How it works
The active agent — hydrogen or carbamide peroxide — penetrates the enamel and breaks down the molecules responsible for discolouration.
- In-practice: professional-strength gel with gums protected; visible results in one session.
- At-home with custom trays: made with the intraoral scanner and used following our protocol; gradual, highly controllable results.
- Combined: an in-practice start plus home maintenance — often the best balance.
What to expect
Results depend on the starting shade: on average a gain of 2 to 6 shades. Mild sensitivity in the first 24–48 hours is normal. In the first days, limit coffee, tea, red wine and strongly pigmented foods.
Whitening and veneers: when more is needed
For significant discolouration or shape defects, thin ceramic veneers may be the more stable solution. We design every case individually, in harmony with your face and expectations.
